Carol Borrett

Carol Borrett paints in watercolours and acrylics out of her home studio in Maple Bay, BC. with much of her inspiration coming from her travels around Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Her award-winning paintings are realistic with a graphic twist and reveal her fascination with water, boats and reflections. Her work captures the varied moods of the coastal area and way of life with soft, subtle tones blending with distant views to create a scene of hushed introspection.
Carol was born in Calgary, Alberta and spent her school years there developing an interest in art, influenced by prairie landscapes as seen in her early work. In 1985, the artist graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Education in both Art and Special Education. Her teaching career took her to northern BC where she enjoyed experimenting with her paintings of northern landscapes; relocating later to the coastal community of Maple Bay on Vancouver Island, she continued to teach and develop her painting style.
The success of Carol's artwork has been acknowledged with many awards. Her works have been successfully presented in several solo shows in local galleries on Vancouver Island, in group shows, and in showings at her home studio/gallery. Her artwork hangs in private and corporate collections throughout Canada.
