Simon Louie
Simon Louie is an indigenous artist from Pauquachin First Nation. He took up wood carving not so many years ago and, after studying with Elliot Jones and Wayne Thomas, has gradually developed a style of his own.
Working in a traditional Northwest Coast style, primarily in Yellow Cedar, Red Cedar and Pine, his work is notable for the depth of his carved line work and elegant forms.
Simon’s large “Circle of Life” is his most ambitious piece to date and is a beautiful expression of the inter-connected nature of the lives of the inhabitants of the environment that his people have occupied for many generations.
